Medical Associates of the Shoals – Greenhill was pleased to sponsor the Polar Plunge to help bring attention to suicide issues among Veterans. On the last day before the new year, just after 1pm at McFarland Park, 200 people braved the icy waters (51 degrees) in order to show their support. Organizer Josh Miles reminded those present that 22 Veterans commit suicide each day. Many within our community have unfortunately had their lives touched by such loss. That's why several of our Greenhill clinical team participated, along with members of their families. We're really proud of them for taking the plunge for such a worthy cause!
There is immediate help for anyone who is contemplating taking their own life. 161 crisis centers remain open around the clock nationwide. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline can be reached at 1-800-273-TALK.
